Emily

We got Emily about a year ago. Actually, we found her under the Christmas tree. Or something like that. Anyway, Emily is a guinea pig. She was pretty small when she showed up here. Well, not anymore. This animal sure eats a lot. And the more she eats, the bigger she gets. By now she eats as much as a small dog.

We keep Emily in a cage that's full of toys and the floor is covered with hay. But the cage doesn't stay in one place too long. Emily smells kind of bad and she keeps pooping, too. Once she stinks up the room she's in, Dad picks her up and puts her in a different room. Peter was afraid of Emily at first but then he started to like her. He doesn't mind carrying her around now.

I can't imagine not having Emily around now. I guess we all got used to her. She has been with us a long time and she became part of this family (even though my parents wouldn't really agree with that). My brother/sister and I want Emily to feel comfortable in our house. That's why we play with her as often as we can and we feed her at least three times a week.

Emily is going to live for about ten more years. None of us knew that when we were getting her. Dad totally freaked out when he found out. It's kind of funny, actually. He will have to listen to her and pay for her food until he's 50. We will both be in college and Emily will still be getting on Dad's nerves at home.
